when Harbo was asked the questions about rankings earlier in the year here was his response:
We are working on dates now -- we are scheduling about a month before usual so it may take some time. I hope we get a schedule out in a week or so.
Final rankings are based on points earned -- there really is no leeway for anyone not seeing "eye to eye"...you are "ranked" by how you do on the field between the lines. EDIT -- Chris, when you refer to rankings, are you talking about classificaton? If so, in the event we run into a difference in classification, we will discuss it and come to a decision. Historically, ASA and NSA in the NW have classified teams more similarly than comparing either of the two to USSSA. so is a "AMERICAN" league team from Delta Park, who just won a C/D/E one pitch tournament an E team? it sounds like Harbo and Steve would need to decide this before the tournament....if they are not E they should be playing @ DELTA |

Hey Madtappers i agree with you all the way, the only reason we are E right now is because Demarni is a D team, we could not play with them at all in any
tourney with the squad they put together this year, we have good team this year but we are not even close to what they are going to put on the field this year,
When and if they get bumped to C then i would agree with you we should be a D team but to play D all year and then to get smashed in the end by them is not
right,,,,, I dont know how they got a D rank with some of the names on that roster?????????????

The situation I was implying to with having ASA work with NSA was when a team had a different ASA and NSA classification.
If an individual wishes to complain about a team's individual ASA or NSA classification, you need to take it up with the person with authority over that team. If it is a Portland-Metro ASA team, I would start with Boley

You would also rather Sand Bag and play the E division so you can do the same to everyone in the E tournaments that Demarini is doing in the D. Are you Scared
of Demarini?? So what you are saying is you do not want to take second and you would rather sand bag and stomp the crap out of the E tourneys a make it now fun
for teams that trully should be playing E?? Just reading what you are saying??

But in hindsight, Would melitia do well at a national E tourney? I think they would do ok, they have a very solid team!! But who knows if they could win it
or not, this is a tough call for them and I definetly see where they are coming from, but I think locally they should be playing in the D at Delta this
weekend. I don't envy the position you are in Militia...

Who is on this Militia team? Rumor has it that some of the E-, er, C-tek boyz are rolling on there. If true, this topic is the pot calling the kettle black.
Footnote: You should play at YOUR most competitive level and let the "Powers that Be" do their job in classifying teams accordingly. In the case I'm reading here, it sounds like you're concerned about only 1 team. On hypotheticals, who's to say that team will stay classified at "D" throughout the year? Who's to say they will stay together throughout the year? Who's to say some of the guys on the team you're concerned about won't get injured, jump ship, come down with the plague, or even do well in the post-season? I've seen very good teams get bounced on Saturdays when they were picked to win the whole thing. My point is you play the hand that is dealt to you. If your team doesn't want to challenge yourselves and move up a rank, and the commish(es) are ok with you playing at that level, then so be it. But the way you're describing it on here, you're concerned about 1 team and to base your move around 1 team is a little premature. My 2 biscuts |
